Maha Golden

President
Maha has been part of DSAHV since 2017. She is an occupational therapist with a specialty in medically fragile babies and families in the Early Intervention network, since 1998. She came to this connection with Downs Syndrome through a family that she serviced.

Bonnie Ann Dombroski

Vice President
Bonnie joined the DSAHV in 2013 and became a board member in 2018. She has been advocating for people and families with Down syndrome since the birth of her daughter, Christa, in 1991. Bonnie was one of the founding members of the DSA of Central Florida. She received her BSN from the University of Central Florida and has been a registered nurse since 1984 with a concentration in maternal/child nursing. Bonnie and Christa prepare our New Parent Gift Baskets for the organization and are leaders at the annual Buddy Walk.

Amy Jett

Secretary
My name is Amy Jett and my youngest child Wesley has Down syndrome. We live in Rosendale, NY. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist for the New Paltz School District. I previously worked for a private agency and worked with children receiving Early Intervention services in Ulster County. I am the secretary for DSAHV. In my spare time, I love spending time with my friends and family!

Tammy Windheim

Treasurer
I am a mother of five children, the first having been born with Down syndrome. She is a beautiful and mature adult now. After retiring from IBM I began working as a Direct Care Provider. I am fortunate to be able to continue serving on the DSAHV Board to bring education and awareness to our community.

Laura Aagard

Board Member
I am a teacher in the Spackenkill School District. I have taught first and second grade and now provide academic intervention services to elementary students in both reading and math. I am a wife and have two beautiful girls; the youngest was born with Down syndrome. Our family has been on a miraculous journey since her birth, as she has had a number of medical diagnoses through the years. As a member of the Down Syndrome Association I have had the opportunity to meet many other families and hear about their own amazing journeys

John Aagard

Board Member
I have a daughter with down syndrome. I am a teacher in the Spackenkill school district. I have a wife and two girls at the age of 16 and 12. We are a part of the DSAHV. My family attends events including dances, fundraisers and other events. I serve as a DSAHV board member because I wish to continue to support children with down syndrome and their families.

Christa Wicklund

Self advocate
Christa joined the DSAHV in 2013, after moving here, with her family, from Texas in 2012. Christa was a guest speaker at the Down syndrome Congress Convention in Orlando, FL in 2016. She obtained employment at Shear Love Salon, in Wappingers Falls in 2017 as their Guest Services Expert and worked there for 3 years. Christa is also a 2020 graduate of the Think Ahead Program, at Dutchess Community College. She enjoys traveling, swimming and hiking with her dog, Jameson.

Jessica Doering

Self advocate
I have been involved with DSAHV as a self advocate for many years, speaking up at board meetings on behalf of adults that were born with Down syndrome. I like cooking and spending time with my family and friends.

Tammy Gehlert

Education Coach
I am Tammy Gehlert, and I volunteer with DSAHV. I am a mom to 5 grown children and a 10 year old who is a beautiful, smart, and sassy girl with Down syndrome named Cara. I am also a teacher and a Girl Scout leader, including a troop for girls with special needs and their sisters.

Ashley Quitoni

Membership Coordinator
I joined the association as a member back in 2012 after the birth of my 3rd child Lucas. Lucas was diagnosed with Down syndrome after birth. DSAHV connected us with so many other families and a support system to help us get through the unchartered waters. I then became a board member in 2015, in 2017 moved on to be Administrative Assistant, and 2018 – present as Membership Coordinator.
